In an ever-changing world, the ability to anticipate and respond to future developments is crucial. The Reference Framework for Futures Literacy in Higher Education, initiated by the Federal Ministry of Women, Science and Research (BMFWF), aims to provide higher education institutions with the tools and resources they need to prepare students for the challenges and opportunities of the future. By developing a structured approach to promoting futures literacy, we want to ensure that future generations have the necessary skills to succeed in a dynamic and complex world.

How can we actively shape the future, rather than merely reacting to it? Futures literacy, the ability to deal with uncertainty, envisage possible futures, and derive new courses of action from them, helps us to do just that. FUTURABILITIES is developing innovative approaches with the Ulysseus European University to systematically integrate futures thinking into teaching, and curricula. Interdisciplinary research, experimental learning formats, and international collaboration provide the impetus that empowers students and organisations to reflect consciously on the future and actively help shape social transformations.

The overarching aim of the project is to create a shared awareness of innovative solutions to secure the future of the Tyrolean hairdressing trade (in particular to overcome pressing problems in the area of securing young talent and skilled workers) and to initiate a joint learning process, exchange of experience and transfer with regard to the potential and feasibility of such solutions in Tyrolean hairdressing businesses.

The “ZUKUNFTSGESTALTER:INNEN” project provides inspiration for a new generation of entrepreneurs, particularly women, who want to actively shape the future. The focus is on strengthening futures literacy as a key competence to promote sustainable innovation, open up new ways of thinking and, in particular, empower young and female talent. Exchange, research and practical formats create a shared learning space that sustainably strengthens future-oriented entrepreneurship in Tyrol.

How can a traditional craft set new standards in the digital age? The “WINNLAB” addresses this question and opens up new perspectives for the Tyrolean carpentry trade at the intersection of craftsmanship, technology and innovation. As a practical learning and innovation space, it brings digital technologies to life, promotes collaboration between craftsmanship, research and education, and creates new avenues into modern manufacturing and innovative business models. In doing so, WINNLAB provides a decisive impetus for the future viability of the carpentry trade in Tyrol.
